  EMPLOYMENT/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

    Development and PR Associate/

    AmeriCorps VISTA Member

    This position is a one-year commitment at St. Joseph Family Center as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. The position starts in August after a 3-day training.

     Duties: As a member of the St. Joseph Family Center Development Team, duties include:

    ·       Coordination of advertising and public relations goals

    ·       Coordination of Community Outreach Events

    ·       Development of a fundraising program

    ·       Assistance with fundraising, newsletter and general development goals

    Education/Experience: A B.A. in Marketing, Communication, or a related field, as well as PR experience, excellent writing, speaking, organizational, and computer skills are required. 

    Monthly Stipend: $833/month

     After your one-year commitment, you have your choice of an Education Credit of $4,725 or cash stipend of $1,200.

     AmeriCorps VISTA offers vacation and sick time as well as medical and life insurance. Depending on family income, you may also qualify for childcare assistance.

    Join a Committee

    FINANCE COMMITTEE:

     

  • Oversees the Accounting Department, reviewing the financial statements thoroughly, and advising the correct allocation of monies by observing generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Reviews and approves the financial information to be presented to the Board of Directors.

  • Makes suggestions on the budgeting process.

  • Recommends actions required on any financial matter when needing a Board decision or required by the economic situation or regarding improved operations.

  • Ensures the Center sticks to the budget and studies and makes recommendations to resolve any discrepancy to the budget.

  • Formulates any Center polices needed of a financial nature to be presented to the Board for approval.

  • Researches the selection of an auditor, making the recommendation to the Board and advises the Business Operations Coordinator in the preparation for auditing.

  •  

    INVESTMENT COMMITTEE:

     

  • Oversees the Investment Portfolio, reviews it in light of social responsible investing and according to the St Joseph Family Center’s Investment Policy.

  • Reviews and makes recommendations as to any needed changes in the Investment Policy.

  • Approves the suggestions of the manager on which investments should be watched carefully and actions to be taken upon them.

  • Understands the Portfolio in relationship to the Center’s total financial situation. Makes recommendations concerning the balance of preserving the needed principle and assisting the Center with earnings.

  • Researches current market situations, analyzing trends and possible investment scenarios.

  • Approves the investment information to be presented to the Board of Directors.

  • Approves the future withdrawals of investments to cover cash flow needs.

  • Approves the manager for the account and evaluates his/her performance annually.

    CLINICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

     

  • Helps ensure Counseling Department meets and/or exceeds standards of acceptable quality of care for clients

  • Provides advice/feedback to Clinical Director  regarding issues of clinical policy, resource management, financial concerns, staffing, training, ethics, consumer satisfaction, and strategic planning 

        SPIRITUALITY, HEALING ARTS, AND HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE:

  • Helps educate the Spokane community to understand the holistic healing approach of SJFC

  • Engages in learning more about the meaning of the holistic approach with open hearts and minds

  • Assists the Spirituality, Healing Arts, and Hospitality Departments to plan stategically

  • Reviews Spirituality, Healing Arts, and Hospitality Department budgets

  • Assists in the creation, promotion, and evaluation of Spirituality, Healing Arts, and Hospitality programs and workshops

  • Participates in SJFC and Spirituality, Healing Arts, and Hospitality programs when feasible

         DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:

  • Conducts research to determine realistic expectations that the Center can hope to achieve in development dollars.

  • Conducts ongoing planning of SJFC’s fund raising efforts, approving annual and long-range goals, determining objectives and action steps needed to reach goals. Evaluates results.

  • Oversees, advises and participates in the major events of the twelve-month Development calendar to include the "Partners in Hope" pledge event, the Christmas mailing, and the "Appeal for Hope" Annual Campaign, as well as donor recognition events.

  • Assists in making connections in the Community, helping SJFC network with individuals and businesses.

  • Assists in identifying potential donors and making certain gift solicitations when appropriate.

  • Devises and promotes a Planned Giving Strategy.

  • Recommends fund-raising policies as needed.

 

       PUBLIC RELATIONS AND MARKETING COMMITTEE:

  • Creates a marketing plan for St. Joseph Family Center, time lining and overseeing its implementation.

  • Evaluates, devises and assists in implementing methods for marketing SJFC to the community and beyond.

  • Analyzes the marketability of programs and services.

  • Determines and helps implement marketing plans for particular events or services.

  • Assists with the writing and publishing of the tri-yearly newsletter, "Center Focus."

  • Reviews brochures, fliers and other PR materials.

  • Assists with planning and operations of Center events.

  • Provides contacts and connections to effective media resources in the community.

  • Recommends PR/Marketing policies as needed.

  • Promotes the bi-monthly "Tours of Hope," enlist and/or bring guests acting as the welcoming person from time to time.
