  HEALING ARTS

Believing in the integration of mind, body and spirit, The Franciscan Place at St. Joseph Family Center promotes the overall well-being of the person through several Healing Arts modalities. These modalities are not meant to replace medical treatment. They may however compliment traditional medical treatment and add to the overall well-being of a person.

Massage has become a complimentary healing modality that offers many benefits to the receiver. Among them are: stress reduction, better circulation, lower blood pressure, reduction of pain, relaxation of mind, body, and spirit. One can receive a full body massage or a chair massage session. Sessions range from 30-55 minutes or chair massage from 15-30 minutes. Therapists use essential oils, hot stones, muscle testing, and tissue massage. $35 for half hour; $60 for hour. Most insurances accepted.

Reflexology is a complimentary, holistic touch therapy that is administered to the hands and feet of the one receiving it. It is the act of applying pressure with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. Generally, sessions range from 50-60 minutes and access to the hands or feet is the only thing necessary. Many benefits have been reported from the reception of reflexology. These include reduction of stress, stiffness, fatigue, insomnia, as well as improvement of digestive disorders.  $30 for half hour, $50 for an hour. Try it for $1.00 per minute.

Tai Chi Chih®: Joy Through Movement - T’ai Chi Chih® is often referred to as a “moving meditation”. This healing art, consists of 19 moves and a pose that generate, circulate and bring to balance the internal flow of energy within the body. This particular form originated with Justin Stone, a T’;ai Chi Ch’uan Master.  His purpose was to provide movements that were easily learned and would afford many benefits. Among the benefits experienced are better balance, increased energy, concentration, and strength.

Reiki: The Gentle Healing Art - Reiki (ray’key) is an ancient healing art. The name itself means universal life force. It is a gentle hands-on-therapy which strengthens the natural ability to heal. Reiki relieves stress, may lessen pain, aids relaxation, and awakens joy. It fosters physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, which promotes wellness. One remains fully clothed while receiving a Reiki session. During a session, the practitioner’s hands lightly touch or hover over the client’s body. The client may remain seated or lie on a massage table. Sessions are generally from 30 – 50 minutes in length.Sessions and Trainings are available.

Yoga - Experience classic Hatha Yoga in a safe fun environment. Open to students of all ages, fitness levels and experience. Poses are adapted to fit your body and skill level. Cost: $25 per four week series.
